Wednesday Night Pennant – Rounds 1-4 Report

BowlsWorldAfter winning both divisions in the inaugural Bowls World Wednesday Night Pennant competition last season, MCC 1 and 2 have started off on exactly the same footing in 2012/13 with a 100% record in all games played so far. Both sides sit neatly at the top of the ladder.

The top side has had good wins against Middle Park, Kew Heights, Richmond Union and Caulfield Park.

The game against Richmond Union was the pick of the four. After trailing by a combined 14 shots after the first 20 ends both rinks rallied to win by 10 shots overall.

The second side has also been grinning with wins against Auburn, Middle Park and Camberwell Central (and a bye in Round 2).

It was very satisfying to beat Camberwell Central 16-2 last Wednesday on their tiff green. Good experience for all playing on a considerably faster tiff than at Swinburne Ave or Glen St.

Results and ladders can be found by going to the Bowls World forum site as follows: http://forums.bowlsworld.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=9417

All games have been played in good spirit, with a healthy balance between competitive fight and respectful sportsmanship. Congratulations to all bowlers involved so far as we break for Christmas, returning to the greens on 23 January.
