The Biggest Morning Tea @ MCC Bowls Section

A Great Day … here’s the report …

The ladies of the MCC Bowls Section again joined with other groups across Victoria to raise funds for Cancer Research in the form of a Biggest Morning Tea. Their Annual Fund Raising Event was held on May 26th, at Hawthorn’s Swinburne Avenue Clubrooms. The weather was miserable outside but inside was invitingly set up and cosily arranged to welcome our guests who enjoyed the Devonshire Tea then were able to sit back and listen to our guest speaker, Dr Jill Spargo, who presented a most interesting and enjoyable talk on keeping well and fit, as we age. The MC for the day was Mr Robert Rouch. Guests included Malvern Bowls Club, MCC Kew Sports bowlers, Huntingdale Golf Club and as ever the MCC Croquet Section was very well represented. Members of the MCC Bowls Section Committee including Manny Galanos, Ian McKay, Norm Hayes, Rae Graham, Reg Davis and their partners joined Graham Fahey and Wayne Worladge from the MCC Croquet Section, as well as Club Members and their friends.

We were delighted to forward the sum of $2560 to the Cancer Council which was raised from entry, raffles, and some very generous donations. Over the past 7 years the MCC Bowls Section Biggest Morning Tea has raised over $15,000 for Cancer Research. This would not have been possible without the club members who over past years have been involved in preparing the day, hosting as well as the many wonderful donors of time, money and goods. Another successful Event for the Club.
