Roy Sloggett

When people think about the Club’s Australian representatives, the first person that springs to mind is Lindsay Kline, particularly as the batsman at the other end in that famous photo from the tied test in 1960.

But did you know there is another Australian representative in our midst, who represented the country about the same time?

Roy Sloggett was part of Australia’s entry into international lacrosse when he was a member of the Australian team that played the visiting combined US team from Virginia and Washington Lee Universities in 1959. Fellow Malvern club members Bill Daw, Jim Daw and Roy Reddaway also played in that side.

Roy was an Association best and fairest winner with Malvern and played in multiple A Grade premierships.

(Do you know of any other Australian or Victorian representatives at the Club? Please let me know at blog@mccbowls.org so we can profile them.)
