Practise Bookings Open

Dear Members,

Due to problems with the email server, many members haven’t been able to receive an email. Here is the content of the email :

We are now able to open Swinburne Ave for members from Thursday 7 October 2021 under strict guidelines from Bowls Victoria and Council. Glen St will not open until restrictions are eased.

We are permitted to use 8 rinks with each having 1 rink gap. Each rink is restricted to two bowlers, therefore capping each session at 16. The only exception is that a rink can have 4 players if they are all fully vaccinated and from no more than two households. In this instance, you will only need to book one of the partners into a timeslot and advise Ian Smith on 0425 759 544.

One hour has been allocated for practise for each session until restrictions are eased. I know this tough but it’s the fairest way for all members who want to practice.

Please note that:
• On any given rink there is a maximum of 4 players from 2 households if fully vaccinated, or, 2 players if partially or not vaccinated.
• you are to ensure that you scan the QR code upon arrival at the club
• you will need to reside within the 15km radius to come to practise
• the clubrooms will be closed except to collect your bowls (at your first session only) and to use the toilet
• masks must be worn at all times except when you are delivering a bowl
• all members should keep 1.5m apart at all times
• members are not to touch other members bowls
• There will be 2 jacks and two mats per rink, 1 at either end, and only 1 person per rink is permitted to touch the mat or jack
• currently, you can either be fully vaccinated or not vaccinated to come to practise however this may change in the future if the government mandates that all participants that play community sport be fully vaccinated

If you choose to advise of your vaccination status during booking for practice, we will do our best to pair you with someone of the same vaccination status.

Whilst it isn’t required, if you wish to show your COVID19 Vaccination Certificate to Ian Smith he will keep a record.

Do not arrive any earlier than 10 minutes before your session starts and leave in an orderly fashion once the session time is finished. If you arrive before that time you will not be able to enter the venue as the gates will be locked until the previous participants have left the club and the mats and jacks have been replaced by the Covid Marshall.

Days/Times available for this week are: Thursday or Saturday at 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm, 3.30pm or 5.00pm. Bookings will close at 9am each practice day. As further days become available, they will be added to the booking system. At this stage, practise will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the above times.

We would like to thank Ian Smith who is our COVID Marshall for all sessions. Please contact him on 0425 759 544 if you have any queries or are unable to attend a booked session (note : you can also cancel your own bookings using the link provided in your booking confirmation email).

BV announced late yesterday that a planned commencement of the Metro Pennant Season is be on Saturday 13 November and Tuesday 16 November. These dates are subject to change at short notice. It is the club’s view that only fully vaccinated members, and those members with a valid medical exemption, will be able to play pennant. In light of this, if you are wanting to play pennant and are not vaccinated we encourage you to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
