Defibrillator and Resuscitation Course

We are conducting a demonstration on how to use the defibrillator and general resuscitation course on Thursday 10 December 2020 in our Swinburne Ave Clubrooms commencing at 7.00pm.  All members are encouraged to attend this presentation.  Having attended previously, I can assure members that it is very informative and demonstrates how easy the defibrillator is to use if the situation arises.

The presentation will be provided by Dr Martin Hiscock, Cardiologist, Epworth Hospital and Ms Sue Buckman, Director, De-Fib for Life.

Light refreshments will follow, so please register your attendance with me by COB Monday 7 December 2020.

Thank you to Peter Williams for organising this most important refresher course.

Pennant Season Commencement and Speaker

Commencement of Pennant

Pennant begins tomorrow for the Thursday Pennant side, on Saturday for the Weekend Pennant sides and on Tuesday for Midweek Pennant sides. Members are reminded that there will be no breaks during all pennant games or serving of tea/coffee until further notice because of continuing COVID-19 restrictions. Masks are no longer required outside or on the greens but are still required to be worn inside if not eating or drinking. Please also adhere to the 1.5m social distancing rules when at the club.

Pre-Season Talk

To celebrate the start of the 2020/21 pennant season, tomorrow night we will have our traditional guest speaker before the first game of Saturday Pennant. We encourage everyone to attend Swinburne Avenue as we launch our season off with a talk at 7.00pm. Our speaker this year will be fellow member Paul Morris. We will be serving a BBQ, so come down for a practice and stay for an interesting talk.

Please note that due to the current COVID restrictions we can only seat 47 members in the clubrooms. Other members will have to sit outside to listen to the talk.

To allow the club to monitor numbers, we encourage members to use the Trybooking system to book in tomorrow in the Thursday 2.00pm to 8pm timeslot. Members can then turn up to bowl any time during the given timeslot. Cut off for bookings is 9am on the day. Ian Smith will print a list of attendees which will then be signed along with start and finish times by members. Alternatively, members can scan a QR code using their mobile phone.

There is also a new link. Please click on the link below

and the screen will look slightly different. Instead of clicking the desired date at the bottom of the screen, members will need to click the “Book Now” button at the top right of their screen.

The Trybooking system will continued to be used on a Tuesday and Thursday for training at the Swinburne Ave greens for the foreseeable future.

Vale – Geoff Rose

It is with deep regret that I advise members who knew Geoff Rose that he passed away yesterday. Geoff was 85 years old and a 15 year member of the Section until illness forced his resignation in May this year.

Condolences to the family.
