Round 1 is HERE!

Good bowling to all our Midweek bowlers who tomorrow kick off their season. While our Weekend Pennant players will kick off this Saturday. We wish you all the best for the season.

Sides are available in the Events Section of Team App, also on our website http://mccbowls.org/pennant/selected-sides-results-ladders/ and on the boards at the club.

Don’t forget this Thursday (3/10) after Pennant Practice, we will have our normal Guest Speaker, this year we welcome Paul Licuria (former Collingwood footballer). The talk begins at 6.45pm and we’ll have pies on the night.

Also we wish all out Over 60’s bowlers who made it through the subsequent Rounds of the Yarra Region Over 60’s Singles at Rosanna on Wednesday.

A note for Weekend Pennant selection this week, the selectors have noted that some players have missed out on a game due to more players being available than positions in sides. There will be rinks setup for these players to play intra-club games at Swinburne Avenue starting at the normal time for Pennant.

We will also be serving pies on the night, so come down for a practice, pie and what will be a great talk.

125th Anniversary Dinner

Over the last few days, all members would have received an invitation to our 125th Anniversary Dinner to be held on Monday 4 November 2019 (Cup Eve) in the Long Room at the MCG.

A couple points of clarification for everyone:

  • spouses and partners are welcome to attend
  • friends of the MCC Bowls Section are welcome to attend
  • if you know of any former members who would be interested in attending, please let them know the details and if they require more information, please email communications@mccbowls.org .

The night will consist of a 3 course dinner with drinks provided between 6pm and 11pm, light entertainment and many, many stories from our 125 year history. The cost for the evening is $110 per person.

It will be a great night and we have hope you are able to come along and enjoy the night.

Clubhouse Security

There have recently been a number of very concerning incidents regarding the security at both the Swinburne Avenue and Glen Street premises.  The security patrols employed by the MCC to check premises after hours have, for instance, found the external door unlocked, sometimes wide open with all internal lights on.  The club has been very fortunate that to date no damage has been done by opportune intruders.

Would all members please be reminded of the need to protect our clubrooms.

Accordingly, please ensure that there are still others at the clubrooms when you leave.  If not, those who leave last must ensure that ALL external doors are locked and manually checked from the outside.

Club Communications

Some members have attempted to communicate with club officials by way of the Comments Section of our website.  It is most unlikely that your request for a hoody, request for team selection, advice of new address or nomination for Pennant will reach the intended recipient via the website. In fact it will probably not be seen at all for some weeks. You can more effectively communicate by phone or e-mail to the person you want. Their contact details are in the club handbook and on the website under the “About/Committee” Tab.
