Welcome to 2018 (Updated)

Swinburne Avenue WILL NOT be opened on Tuesday 9th as previously stated. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Welcome to 2018 everyone, we hope you have enjoyed the Christmas / New Year break. With the season starting up again in just under 2 weeks, we thought we’d let you know what will be on at the club in terms of practice and practice games leading into Round 11 of Saturday Pennant and Round 12 of Midweek Pennant.

We have the added challenge of our Swinburne Avenue greens undergoing the annual maintenance and not being available until Thursday 11th JAN. Therefore, the following practices will be available to all members at the following venues:

  • Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 4th January – There will be structured practice with the coaches at Glen St from 4.30pm
  • Saturday 6th January – There will be practice games setup for team practice at Glen St. We understand that people will be unavailable due to their holiday commitments, but we encourage as many bowlers to come down for a competitive game. With the current forecast being in the high 30’s we will start the games at 10am and play until it is too hot (36°) or about 1pm, whichever comes first. Arrive at 9.30am so you can register your name and then sides will be selected from those who are there. There will not be any lists at the club rooms.
  • Tuesday 9th January – There will be structured practice with the coaches at Glen St from 4.30pm
  • Thursday 11th January – There will be structured practice with the coaches at Swinburne Ave from 4.30pm

We hope everyone is keen to get back into the season, we have just under half the season so we’re keen to get everyone back out there and firing!

Tournament Shirt released for MCC Bowls

The first batch of orders has been submitted … we will keep you informed on delivery time frames shortly!

We have decided to introduce a “Tournament Shirt” for MCC Bowlers to wear at all events EXCEPT PENNANT!

These shirts are made by a different manufacturer to our pennant shirts and are of a newer materials which breathe better in the warmer conditions. We’ll have a sample of the shirt material available in the Committee Room from Tuesday.

The shirts will have the Bowls Australia logo on them and are able to be worn at events such as Region Regional, Victorian Open and Tournaments just to name a few.

Short sleeve shirts will cost $45 each, plus if you want a Name/Nickname on the back you just need to add $5 (so $50). These prices are only guaranteed for the first batch of these shirts, following this batch price will be determined based on quantity ordered.

Sizes are available from Small through to 4XL.

If you would like to purchase a shirt you need to send the following details to communications@mccbowls.org by 20th December 2017 to secure your shirt.

All payments are to be via cash before your order is confirmed. If you have any questions send an email to address above or talk to Culum at the club.

Spare a thought for our charity this weekend

It’s that time of year when we all celebrate, with family and friends, the Christmas Spirit.

A Message from the Berry Christmas Appeal

The children and young people in Berry Street’s care often miss out on the happy times that the rest of us take for granted and sadly, Christmas is no exception. We believe all children should have a good childhood including being able to celebrate Christmas in the same way other children do.

Our gifts to Berry Street has been a long-standing Tradition. Any gift is helpful.
To enable you to contribute, envelopes are available at all three venues and will be included in the managers’ kits for the last round of pennant before Christmas.
If you put your name on the envelope Berry Street will issue a receipt.
